New Valentine Tradition!!

I have decided to make a new tradition for my family this Valentines! It’s something fun for the kids, and so they fell involved in this somewhat adult holiday!
I found these cute mailboxes at the dollar section of Target. We brought them home..and my 4 year old helped decorate them! I do have to say it’s extremely hard to decorate these for a boy..trying to make them not girly looking was challenging-but it turned out ok!
My goal is to do the ‘14 days of Valentines’. I plan to put little notes, snacks, treats and even little dollar toys etc in each persons mailbox. I don’t want this to be expensive, but fun for the kids! Each day they will have something new in the mailbox and hopefully a tradition they will enjoy!!

One side has our initial so we can remember which mailbox is ours!

and a close up Smile

SO….. I need to run to the store to pick up little things to go inside these mini mailboxes… Any ideas are more than welcome…………… Hope you are all ready for Valentines since TOMORROW is February 1st!!!
Can you believe it?
I know I can’t… but in all honesty I am excited Jan. is over because I am counting down to summer and it can’t get here soon enough!

UPDATE: I just entered so go check out all the fun Valentines craft ideas!!

The completed projects

As I promised over the weekend, I did finish the baby boy gifts for a friend! They were so fun, but time consuming. I do have to say I was happy with how they turned out!

First up….

I bought this plain onesie. I cut the saying out of freezer paper with my Cricut and painted it on! To match the onesie I made some comfy lounge pants minus the draw string part. The pants are made out of a soft minky type material.. I only wish I had enough fabric to make some for me Smile

Second….

As I said before this couple friend of ours is having their 1st boy! The husbands nickname is El’ Capitan.. so I thought for their little boy it was only fitting to have a little bib with the same nickname as Daddy!! (this was made to be a joke, but also something they could use down the road)

Last up…. and my most favorite sewing project to date!!!

I saw this blanket idea from here. Dana has an AMAZING blog which I follow daily! I have bought some super fun patterns from her as well, so go check out all her amazing tutorials etc!!

So this blanket is really fun to make, especially to see it come together. It takes A LOT of time FYI, but looks stunning when it’s complete! I will for sure make more of these down the road..but for now will give my eyes and fingers (which I snipped a piece of my pointer finger off in the process of making this) a rest!!

Isn’t this just amazing. If you can’t see I used 3 colored fabric’s to make the ‘chenille’ looking side. A solid brown, green and yellow!! Love Love love this blanket!

BATMAN AND ROBIN Toys and Collectibles from the 90's

In the 1990's it was a great time to be a Batman Toy collector. I mean, you had all the movies going on, and then on TV, you also had the wonderful Animated Series Cartoon. Shown here are a few cool toys & 90's memorabilia pieces picked totally at random. The 1st item is a very RARE 1992 BATMAN RETURNS Ralston Cereal Store Display Sign. Kids would have seen this at the Grocery Store & then start begging Mom, ha! I really like the graphics on this thing. Speaking of the cereal, the next pic shows a few BATMAN RETURNS Cereal Box Premiums that were available FREE inside the boxes! These are 3-D Flicker Bookmarks, meaning, you tilt them & the pictures change from one image to the other. There were 3 of them in the complete set: Catwoman, Batman, and The Penguin. Now the next photo sort of gets away from the movies for a minute. This is a Plush Batman Doll from 1994 ( 16" Tall ) that was tied-into "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" Animated TV Series. I love the old cartoon logo & the packaging is interesting with the "open box" design. Last, but not least, is a RARE 1997 BATMAN AND ROBIN Movie Store Display Sign from Taco Bell. It advertised the contest they had going on their Pepsi Drink products. Well, does any of these items bring back any memories? I know back then I was totally about the cereal, ha ha!

Video - BATMAN BEYOND Animated Series Fan-Film

Years ago director Michael Valentine attempted to make a fan-film based on the BATMAN BEYOND animated series TV cartoon. Due to some difficulties ( I'm guessing lack of money )the movie was never finished.

A friend to the Bat-Blog sent us this hilarious graphic of Batman. It's a parody of those "Calvin Peeing On..." decals you used to see all the time on the back of pick-up trucks owned by stupid Rednecks, ha ha!

Happy Friday everyone…..

I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday! I am SOOOOOO glad Friday has come. This week seemed to drag on F.O.R.E.V.E.R! I stayed inside with the kids mostly and went totally slightly crazy! Anyone else ready for summer?? I know I am desperately waiting for it to arrive.
However, we have survived and I do have some fun projects to show you. It will have to wait until Saturday or Sunday since I am still in the process of finishing them. I better hurry and finish since they are for a friend who’s having her FIRST boy (after already having 2 girls) and we are planning to get together with them Saturday night!!
…..but I will leave you with a sneak peak!!DSC03353

Vintage Batman Toys - 1966 BATMAN ACTIVITY BOX Play Set by Whitman

I have been meaning to post these picture for awhile but here they are at last! Shown right here on the Bat-Blog is this totally amazing Vintage 60's Batman Toy. This is the BATMAN ACTIVITY BOX Play Set made by Whitman in 1966. Basically it's a very large paper place mat (you can color) that comes with cardboard punch-outs of Batman characters, building pieces, & vehicles. Oh man, this old toy is so beautiful!! The graphics are really great. Just look at all the photos and you will start to cry, ha! I love the stand-up people here, characters like: Batman, Robin, Alfred The Butler, Commissioner Gordon, Joker, The Penguin, a Policeman, & even Batman and Robin as their alter-egos, Bruce Wayne & Dick Grayson! There are some pieces for the Gotham City Police Station, the Bat-Cave, Wayne Manor, and also the Batmobile Car and Bat-Plane!! They just don't make toys today with this sort of imagination & quality. Especially since this thing was meant to be sort of inexpensive. So, I gotta know, what do you think about it? Please leave comments.

J'adore cette photo !
Ça tombe bien, j'en suis l'auteur.
Pour moi, elle symbolise bien certains aspects de la Semaine de la Mode à Paris
et de la mode elle-même toujours en mouvement ...

BATMAN Wallpaper Background - ADAM WEST TRIBUTE

OK, I know that on "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I usually post 2 or 3 Batman Backgrounds, but this one is so extremely great that I only need to post one!! Now, before it sounds like I'm bragging about myself, I'm not, I swear! ha ha! This one was created exclusively for the Bat-Blog by a Graphic Artist/Designer named Christopher Franchi. It's a Tribute to his favorite Batman Actor, Adam West! This is also his actual artwork. You see, Christopher’s Detroit-based METALUNA 5 MEDIA has created designs for bands such as KISS, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, White Stripes, and many more. They have also created landmark graphics for such entertainment properties as Superman, Batman, Star Trek, Bettie Page, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on. So, in closing, everybody should know how honored I am to receive this BATMAN wallpaper as a gift, thanks Christopher! You ROCK, Sir!!
